Class Descriptions

Violet Petals Yoga Oasis is a unique experience where students are given individualized attention. Sessions
are designed to bring awareness to breath (pranayama) creating  a dynamic flow through the major energy
centers (chakras) of the body, to open, energize, harmonize and encourage more union within body, mind and
spirit.

Students are guided using safe principles of alignment to explore their own individual inner edge and comfort
zone. Each session concludes with deep relaxation (savasana) and meditation techniques providing a
fundamental element to facilitate balance and stillness of the mind to break patterns of stress and anxiety.

(Violet Petals was named after the color of the 7th Chakra (Sahasrara) the Crown or Lotus Chakra the
Thousand Petaled Lotus).

Studio Guidelines

Studio opens 10 minutes before class.

Classes will begin on time, plan to arrive a few minutes early so that everyone can benefit from the full
session. If you must arrive late, please enter quietly so others are not disturbed during the initial meditation.

For optimal yoga practice, refrain from eating a heavy meal 2-3 hours prior to class start time. A light snack
such as a piece of fruit is helpful to maintain blood sugar level.

What is Yoga?

Translated from Sanskrit, yoga means “yuj”, or to yoke, join or bring union to the body, mind and spirit. An
ancient science developed in India over 5,000 years ago, the physical aspect (asanas) was formed as a tool
to soften stress in the body and to bring stillness to the mind as a preparation for meditation. Stillness in the
mind is not the lack of energy or movement. It is harmony in action creating a sense of overall peace, joy and
wellness.

What are the benefits of Yoga?

Consistent and regular practice of yoga offers therapeutic benefits. Some may include: Increasing inner
strength, tone, flexibility in the body and mobility in the joints, regulating digestion, reducing stress and anxiety,
improving concentration and mental clarity, increasing lung capacity, encouraging healthy immune system,
alleviating pain in the body, massaging of all the internal organs, glands and cells, balancing cholesterol,
blood sugar and blood pressure levels.
